How VOGA strengthens the community:Valley Organic Growers Association strengthens food security for our community by growing and selling high quality organic food locally through their CSA programs and some farmer's markets.They strengthen our environmental health by practicing sustainable agricultural methods that do not pollute water, soil or air. They strengthen our sense of community through the many ways they inter-relate with people like through providing food for the The Kids Pasta Project and a place to grow sauce ingredients at Thistle Whistle. They strengthen health by selling their food to the school food program in Delta county
2. VOGA empowers individuals to serve the community through their summer intern program that trains young people interested in farming on many of VOGA member farms. They provide seminars for all these interns collectively and a chance to learn through collaboration with their summer potlucks on each other's farms so that the interns can learn from ALL the VOGA members. Voga Also builds bridges with these same acitivies.
3 Voga builds bridges by having open meetings that anyone can attend. They have educational presentations on growing organic food and food sustainability. They work together to serve their customers with a broader range of products than one farm can supply. They are the heart of the Paonia Harvest Festival and bring people together with their harvest feasts to build community and commitment to a healthy future for all!
